I know not everyone is on the socks and heels bandwagon, but I’ve always loved it, and this picture is no exception.

Okay, so maybe these wouldn’t be considered “timeless,” and maybe they evoke a certain Alicia Silverstone Clueless outfit accessory but I don’t care. The chunky platform and heel, the soft pink and sparrow printed silk, and the oh-so sparkly sparkles have me totally buggin’.
There are actually more great prints and a few pairs of Miu Miu’s that I’ll be eyeing this fall, but I think these are the front-runners for my fave.

Nicholas Kirkwood of London has designed these for Rodarte’s fall/winter collection. Didn’t Reebok/Sketchers/Stride Rite pave the way for these? Ha! A quick search on Zappos says yes. Good old Zappos even has the flashing lights in the thumbnails.
Hrmm…now I’m not saying I wouldn’t be up to trying these out. I actually think they’re pretty interesting; I’m just not sure I can shake the image I have in my head. The flickering lights on the heels of a slew of hyperactive kids running amock in the mall (the creepy dead end of the mall at that!) may be too far ingrained for me to be open-minded about these.
What do you think?
I’ve been hunting for the perfect pair of nude shoes, and I’ve been on a mission for the past year. I don’t remember where I got the bug from, but nothing’s caught my eye this entire time…until now. Do you see these? Oh, aren’t they beautiful? They’re my new favorite! (By the way, this whole nude shoe thing is a trend right now, sigh.)
Let me see, where shall I start. I love the twist on the classic mary jane (two ankle straps!), that lovely fleshy-tan color, the vintage perforated trim, that tiny bit of white platform peeking through the peep-toe, and of course that lovely red sole. Ah, I am content…even if they are mine only in my dreams.

It looks as though clogs, in all shapes and colors, will be making a big appearance for spring/summer.
I remember I had a cute platform sandal-y pair from J.Crew when I was a freshman in high school (1998!), but that was way before Born and Crocs were in existence. I must admit I was curious to see the high-heel black mule in the Chanel show last fall but didn’t have the foresight to spot it as a potential trend. How could I have missed this?! If there was anyone who could bring the clog back from beyond the grave (complete with a history of mall-kiosks), it would be Papa Lagerfeld.
Several other fashion houses also featured clogs in their collections, so with Louis Vuitton and Celine also leading the way I’m sure we can start trendspotting now. (At first I thought I liked the Louis Vuittons, but then I got an image of a Teva sandal in my head, and that just won’t do–I draw the line at Crocs.)
Are you ready to accept the clog again?
