“I’mmm 5o!”
The Space Needle turned 50 on Saturday and in celebration he’s going back to the original Galaxy Gold color that was first used for the World’s Fair in 1962. Isn’t this picture from Facebook is so great. Could you get out there and help paint?
In celebration of Freddie Mercury’s 65th birthday the folks at Google created this little feature. Absolutely love this; I know what I’ll be listening to after work tonight.
At the end of this year there will meet and then exceed 7 billion people living on our planet. This three-minute, no nonsense typography video from National Geographic kick starts a seven part, year-long series on global population.
In this time of resolutions and crash diet beginnings it seems we often forget to think about the world outside of ourselves. If you take a second to think about it, I mean really think about it, the New Year is a very selfish time. Just on the heels of time when we’re all guilty of overindulging, it seems the meaning of resolutions has gone right out the window with the true holiday spirit. As much of a humbug as that makes me sound I really hope to use this time to think about my place in this world as 1 out of 7 billion and think about the message of balance.

A paper craft castle on the ocean
It’s been a mad dash to get into the holiday spirit since I realized just a few days ago that Christmas is next week. It’s crazy how life can get in the way of life…whatever that means.
Hope you all have a lovely and festive weekend ahead of you. Eat some homemade Christmas cookies for me. I’ll have to wait until later next week to indulge.

In order to offset the over the top nerd confession in my last post I figure I should try to redeem myself with some eye candy from some of the resort trends that are online now at Neiman Marcus. I know, I know…you think I’m crazy. After all, autumn is only just arriving, and we’re still getting used to the shorter days and foggy nights, but why not take a little peek ahead and see what’s in store?
Espadrilles are still in, but these lovelies from YSL are a great twist instead of the typical wedge. I typically gravitate to the chunkier heels like this, so I could definitely see this at home on my shoe wall. Ooh that killer yellow, and the rosy platform. Swoon! See them here.

Glitter is also going to be showing up in resort collections as well. I don’t find Jimmy Choo’s shoes to be particularly comfortable but I just adore these peep toes. I love these because it just screams classy but has just the right amount of flash to make them stand out. Paired with an LBD and pearls and I’d be set. Oh, but there’s more! I’m not typically a bag kind of gal, but the matching shoulder bag is gorgeous! Both at Neiman’s too.

And what would any shoe list be without a pair of Louboutin’s. Neiman’s is calling this trend category Parisian Chic, and all I can say is je veux ces chaussures maintenant!
I admit, I worry that perhaps there may be some over-saturation with this brand, but every time that thought creeps into my head I see a new pair that gets my heart racing all over again, so really what do I know? Well, I at least had the sense to recognize that these are FIERCE with that 6-inch heel and leather and mesh backstay. And I would also venture to say that they’re sweet with that peep toe and cut-out with bow. Don’t look at the price, you’ll just cry, but if you’re up to it check ‘em out.

I’ve got nothing planned for the weekend and I’m not sure how I feel about that. I’ve had a busy few weeks so I’m kind of excited to leave my weekend activities to chance, but then I’m also wishing I had something festive. I guess that’s just the planner in me, but I should take advantage of this nice break. I really need to get the house in order, but that can’t be the extent of my weekend, or that will make for a grumpy Monday. How about I clean my closet to earn a night about town on Saturday night? Can you tell I feel guilt about my messy closet? It’s like I’m asking mom for permission to go out, even though my chores aren’t done!
Hope you all have sexy plans, or non-plans, ahead of you this weekend!

What a cool idea! Bus Roots was second runner-up at the DesignWala Grand Idea Competition, so this is still very much an early prototype, but the thought of busses topped with lovely green gardens would be quite a sight.
The team behind it claims that:
If we grew a garden on the roof of every one of the 4,500 buses in the MTA bus fleet, we would have 35 acres of new rolling green space in the city.”
I’m really curious to know how much this would change or offset air quality.

It’s the weekend…finally! Do you have any sexy plans? ‘ll be bopping around Union Square tomorrow night for a bachelorette party, right about where the picture above was taken. I just love being downtown on a Saturday night!
I’ve been absent as I continue to settle in at work, but honestly I feel drained of all inspiration. Not sure why, but there really hasn’t been anything exciting on the cooking, eating, farmer’s market, or fashion fronts for me the past few weeks. I’m really quite tired and boring. Hopefully soon I’ll get back into my groove; I do miss my little place here, it really makes me happy.

Came across another fun accessory for the house today. Designed by Eric Therner, available here.
Brilliant, I say! (But maybe not so much after they burn out.)
